45 sailors participate in Windsurfing Nationals

As many as 45 sailors vied for top honours in nine categories on the opening day of the Windsurfing Nationals at Cidade de Goa today.
In the Olympic RS:X class, there was a close battle between Jerome Kumar, Murugan, Chennaiah and Satappa.
The first race saw Jerome Kumar take the gun, followed closely by Satappa and Chennaiah.
However, in the second race, Murugan got off to a flying start followed closely by Jerome and Satappa.
Murugan, however, managed to hold on to his lead.
The third race saw Satappa lead throughout and take the gun with Chennaiah on his heels.
In the Asian Games Mistral Class, Remy Fernandes swept all the three guns to establish a commanding lead in the regatta.

In the Raceboard Class, Saddam Hussein Shah of Orissa shocked Goa's Donald Coelho in the first race top take the gun. However, Donald came back strongly to win the second and third races.
In Raceboard Youth Class women, M Manaswini of Orissa made a clean sweep, bagging all three guns, while in the Boys category, Canute D'Mello of Goa took the first two races in style, but failed to round a mark in the third race and conceded the honours to Cany Rodrigues.
Results were withheld in the Raceboard Junior category, while Myron Gomes of Goa dominated the sub-junior category.
In the Techno 293 Youth Class, siblings Dayne and Katya Coelho respectively made a clean sweep in the Men's and Women's category.
