According to police, the incident took place when the victim, identified as one Narayani Devi, was sweeping the space outside her home in Samaipur Badali's Yadav Nagar locality.
"Two men arrived on a bike and the pillion rider fired at the woman, hitting her on the shoulder. As the attackers sped away, her younger daughter rushed out hearing the gunshot. Narayani Devi was rushed to a nearby hospital by her neighbours where she succumbed during treatment," police said.
She was locked in a dispute with Singh over the house in which she was living with her younger daughter. Her elder daughter is married and lives elsewhere, police said.
"After the victim's daughter expressed suspicion about their father's involvement, we detained Singh, who lives in another locality in the same area. He is being questioned," police said.
It has also come to light that the house in which Narayni Devi was living is owned by her husband.
