A total of 460 people, including 308 civilians, have been killed in terror attacks in Pakistan since an all-party conference that decided on a dialogue with the Taliban, a security official said today.
"460 innocent people (308 civilians, 114 military, 38 police) have embraced shahadat (martyrdom) and 1,264 (684 civilians, 531 military, 49 police) were injured due to terrorists acts throughout the country since the September APC," a senior Pakistani military official said on condition of anonymity.
An "All-Party Conference" in September had decided on dialogue as the way forward to tackle the Taliban.
The latest figures came amid speculation that the powerful security establishment and the civilian government are not on the same page on ways to tackle the decade-long insurgency in the country.
While the government is keen on talks with the Taliban, it is speculated that the military is backing operations.
