Protesters set fire to a motorcycle at Bank Tinali here and stone pelting on government vehicles was reported from some parts of the city, police sources said.
Educational institutions, business establishments, central government offices and banking institutions remained closed while attendance in state government offices was thin, they said.
All commercial, private and public vehicles remained off the roads, except for a few state transport buses which were running with escorts.
There was intensified police patrol in Itanagar and Naharlagun with watch being kept on all vulnerable pockets, the sources added.
The bandh has been called by the All Nyishi Youth Council (ANYC), Arunachal Pradesh Abo Tani Clans Youth Organization (APATCYO) and Arunachal Pradesh Youth Forum (APYF) demanding immediate cancellation of land possession certificates awarded to non-Arunachalees.
The other demands of the organisations includes increasing the age-limit for Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) and OBC candidates in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission examinations.

They are also asking for action against alleged misrepresentation of the Nyishi tribe in a general knowledge book.
The three organisations had earlier called for a 12-hour bandh in the capital on May 28.
