48 turtles seized from express train

Altogether 48 turtles were seized from a reserved coach of an express train at Malda Town station in the district today, RPF officials said.
During a routine check in the Anand Bihar-Malda Town Weekly Express upon its arrival at the station, RPF personnel stumbled upon two bags containing the reptiles in the S-5 coach.
There was no claimant for the bags.
The officials said the turtles were of a rare variety, but could not provide details.
The turtles were later handed over to the forest department.
