"So far, I have performed 5,600 postmortems without any break, even on holidays," Gobind Ballabh Pant Government Hospital's mortuary unit head Bharat Vajpayee (52) told PTI.
He said that in 2011, Limca Book of Records had also recognised the untiring effort and given it a place in the book of records.
The hospital's postmortem unit is possibly the smallest in Madhya Pradesh, but it is also one, which began providing computerised autopsy reports to the kin of those who lose their near and dear ones, since October 2011, he said.
With special permission from the District Collector, the team has also conducted postmortems during nights whenever it was necessary, he said.
Vajpayee also appealed to the people to donate their vital parts for the sake of needy people and advocated the appointment of full-time counsellors in hospitals to guide people about the issue.
