Disciplinary action was today initiated against five Jammu and Kashmir health department employees, four of them doctors, for dereliction of duty.
Kupwara Deputy Commissioner Itrat Hussain placed block medical officer Dr Idrees and assistant surgeon Dr Gulzar Parra under suspension "for breach of peace and tranquillity in Zachaldara block".
Elsewhere, in Shopian district, gynaecologist Dr Nusrat was suspended after she was found absent from duty during a surprise visit to the district hospital by Deputy Commissioner Javed Khan.
Again, in Srinagar district, the director of Kashmir health services, Saleem-ur-Rehman, transferred SR Gunj medical officer Shabnam Qureshi to the sub-district hospital at Beerwah while junior pharmacist Gulrukh Zaheen was sent to the PHC at Khonmoh.
The action against the above two officers was taken after they were found involved in "unsafe injection practices", the spokesman said.
