5 held for stealing gadgets worth Rs 32 lakh from mall

Five security guards were today arrested for alleged theft at a hypermarket retail chain in Kachiguda Cross Roads here and electronic items including over 100 cell phones worth Rs 32 lakh seized, police said.
A police party on a tip off raided a house at Raidurgam here and nabbed Kamal Das, Ratan Das, Rupam Kalita, Rajani Pegu and Paraga Joti Das, all belonging to Assam.
During searches in their house, stolen property was found kept in seven bags, they said.
"On the intervening night of August 22 and 23, the five accused gained entry into Big Bazaar Shopping Mall through the cellar way and broke open the door lock and stole electronic gadgets worth of Rs 32,27,290," Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone) Shahanawaz Qasim told reporters.
Special teams were formed to nab the accused, who planned to flee back to Assam after committing the crime, the DCP said.
The accused previously worked at the shopping mall as security guards, police said.
