As the violent mob torched at least seven motorcycles and damaged some cars during the clash, police had to lob eight tear gas shells and fire five rounds in the air from anti-riot guns to control the situation, Superintendent of Police, Gandhinagar, Virendrasingh Yadav said.
"The clash was the result of an old grudge between Chaudhary and Rajput communities of the village. Today, members of both the communities came against each other and resorted to violence. They torched at least seven bikes and damaged some cars," he added.
According to police inspector of Mansa K H Suryavanshi, both the communities have been at loggerheads over the old issue.
"Due to an old issue, Chaudhary and Rajput community members first entered into a heated debate outside a temple. Then, they resorted to stone pelting and damaging vehicles. We have detained some persons involved in the clash," said Suryavanshi.
