Five persons were killed and 35 others were injured today in a clash between two groups over a land dispute in Doroli village of Alwar district.
Alwar SP Rahul Prakash said two groups of the Mali community, led by Battu Ram Saini and Lala Ram Saini, clashed at Doroli village in the district over a piece of land in Nadbai tehsil of Bharatpur.
The warring groups threw stones and opened fire at each other. As a result, five persons were killed, Prakash told PTI.
Administrative officials had got the land freed from Lala Ram on March 27, but he continued to cultivate crops on it, which led to the clash.
Those killed were identified as Sia Ram Saini, Premvati Saini, Karn Singh, Bahadur Saini and Nannuram Saini.
The injured persons are undergoing treatment at hospitals in Kherli, Alwar and Jaipur, police said.
Police could not register a case immediately as they could not ascertain in which police station area the incident took place.
Later in the evening, Kherli police of Alwar district took over the probe into the matter after registering a case.
