5 Maoists held for sedition handed over charge sheet copies

Five Maoists, arrested last year here for sedition and criminal conspiracy, were today handed over copies of charge sheet by a city court.
Rupesh, his wife Shyna, Anup, Veeramani and Kannan, arrested from Karumathampatti on the city outskirts in May 2015, were given the copies of the nearly 4,200 pages charge sheet by Additional District Judge M Christopher.
They have been charged with various offences under IPC sections including criminal conspiracy and sedition and also under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, police said.
The case was posted to December 8 for further hearing.
The five accused, facing a total of 28 cases, were later taken back to the central prison here, where they have been lodged since their detention.

Earlier, as they were being brought to the court, the accused raised slogans against Kerala government over the alleged encounter in which two Maoists were killed in Nilambur forests in the neighbouring state yesterday.
Advocate Balamurugan, representing the accused, said the 25 cases in Tamil Nadu and three in Kerala were 'foisted' on them.
