Five militants of the proscribed underground outfits UNLF, PLA and PREPAK surrendered along with arms and ammunition before the BSF at Loktak in Manipur.
Three are from the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and one each from the Peoples' Liberation Army (PLA) and People Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), said a press release by Satish Budakoti, Deputy Inspector General, Frontier HQ BSF Mizoram, Cachar, Masimpur and Silchar.
The five active militants surrendered in the presence of senior officers of the Border Security Force on Sunday, the release said here today.
They are UNLF's self-styled lance corporals P Nanao Metei, O Kokchaba alias Tomba and Simon Kuki alias Suanpao, PLA 'sergeant' Nehlu Haokip alias Raju Kuki and PREPAK's 'lance corporal' Ngamjaba alias Lalboi.
Welcoming the surrendered cadres to the mainstream, The Border Security Force exhorted them to become responsible citizens.
The BSF has been making a sustained effort to bring the misguided youths of the region to the mainstream society and lead a peaceful life.
The families of the surrendered cadres were assured that the BSF will extend all possible assistance and financial benefits will be given as per policy laid down by the Central Government, the release added.
