Ahead of the ULFA (I) protest day on November 27, security forces in Arunachal Pradesh have apprehended five cadres of outlawed NDFB and two over ground workers of NSCN (R) in separate operations in the state.
The Jairampur Battalion of Assam Rifles in an operation, apprehended five rebels of the NDFB from Old Khamdo village in Changlang district on Thursday night, Kohima-based Defence Spokesman Col Chiranjit Konwer said in a communiqu on Friday.
They were identified as Biswajit Basumatray alias B Birsha, Birkhang Basumatray alias B Bwsrang, Divika Muchhary alias M Daobaisuli, Sampa Basumatray alias Sarfao and Dwimu Brahma alias B Dwijiri.
Large number of arms and ammunitions, including four pistols and one carbine along with other incriminating documents, were recovered from their possession, the spokesman said.
In an another drive, the Changlang Battalion of Assam Rifles nabbed two linkmen of NSCN(R) from Ledo and Margherita areas under Tinsukia district of Assam on Thursday night.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of the linkmen trying to terrorize people and carryout extortion in Ledo and Margherita, the battalion apprehended Seraj Khan and Sibu Pradhan.

On interrogation, the duo confessed to carrying out extortion on behalf of NSCN(R) and acting as over ground worker for the group.
Security forces under the aegis of Dao Division, have been carrying out relentless operations in South Arunachal Pradesh to make the area free from the clutches of the insurgents, the spokesman added.
