Police and fire officials today rescued five persons who were trapped in a building in west Delhi's Inderpuri after a neighbouring four-storeyed structure leaned precariously and rested on it during the wee hours.
The unoccupied four-storeyed structure had started leaning around 3 AM and rested dangerously on the nearby building, whose occupants were sleeping at the time of the incident, officials said.
The locals tried to help out the people trapped within the building and informed the Fire Service and police.
"We got a call about a collapsing building around 3.30 AM. We rescued fiver persons and no one was injured," said a senior police officer.
A case has been registered in the matter and further probe is underway. The owner of the tilted structure is being questioned, he said.
The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) officials said the debris of the tilted structure was being removed and a contractor was engaged to dismantle it.
