5 seriously injured in dacoit attack

Five members of a family were critically injured after 20 armed dacoits attacked their house near Garobadha Lower Primary School, about 500 metres from Garobadha outpost in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya today.
Police said quoting delayed reports that the attack took place on January 24 and the five critically injured persons were Tapan Ghosh (55), his wife Geetarani Ghosh (49) and sons Taposh Ghosh (30) and Rajesh Ghosh (28) and their aunt Suchitra Ghosh (32).
Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Pravin Bakshi stated that the matter would be taken up on a priority basis and investigations would follow.
"The matter is very serious and will be taken up with the police authorities. We will get to the bottom of the incident and action will be taken up. We will also discuss security of the villagers and ensure security is provided," said Bakshi.
Bakshi later informed that the SP of the district, Mukesh Singh, was aware and the investigation in the case has been entrusted to an ASP ranked officer.
