5 transport inspectors arrested for graft

Five transport inspectors and three brokers, arrested for graft by Anti Corruption Bureau, were today remanded in judicial custody here till June 26.
A team of ACB arrested inspectors Nishant Gupta, Ashok Sharma, Surendra Beniwal, Ranveer Singh and T P Singh, and brokers Rakesh, Deewan Singh and Anil late last night after a raid.
They were produced before a local court where the magistrate ordered to send them to judicial custody till June 26.
"The inspectors used to collect bribe amount from transporters through brokers for allowing movement of trucks. A local transporter had complained to the ACB headquarters in Jaipur following which the raid was planned after verification of the complaint," an official said.
"The brokers were handing over Rs 75,000 in all to the inspectors when they were trapped," they said, adding, three inspectors and five brokers were absconding.
