Around 50 BJP workers including former party functionaries, local leaders and ex-civic bodies members, today joined the Congress, ahead of the municipal polls in Rajasthan.
At the function organised by PCC president Sachin Pilot, the new entrants to the party fold assured that they would work for the party without self interest and unconditional commitment, especially for the municipal polls slated in 129 cities on August 17.
Former Chairman of Phulera Nagarpalika Manoj Ahuja, prominent local BJP leaders Jagdish Prasad Sharma, Mohd Shabid Bhai, Deepak Ahuja, Gudwin George, Gopal Rohila, Prem Prakash Sharma, Sudhir Kamra, Rajendra Saini, Ratan Lal among others joined the Congress today, a party spokesperson said.
The latest induction comes after 500 BSP members, many of them party functionaries and founder members, joined Congress earlier this month.
While welcoming the new entrants, Pilot assured them that there would be no discrimination and the party would treat them at par with old members. He said that the move would strengthen the party base democratically.
Former Chief Minister Jagannath Paharia and former PCC President B D Kalla were also present on the occasion, the spokesman added.
