50 houses gutted in fire

As many as 50 houses were destroyed in a fire in Mamidipalli village in Santha Kaviti mandal in Srikakulam district today.
The fire started in one of the houses where charcoal, to be filled in an iron, had been lit and left unattended.
District officials have ordered an enquiry apart from arranging shelter and food for the affected families.
The figure of loss caused by the fire was put at Rs 20 lakh.
