50 Maoists ultras surrender in Jhargram

The West Midnapore district police today handed over financial assistance to 50 Maoists ultras who had surrendered since November 10.
District Superintendent of Police Bharati Ghosh handed over cheque amount of Rs 50,000 each to the ultras at a function held at the SP's office here, where all senior district police officers were present.
"The Maoists who have surrendered will be given assistance as per the rehabilitation policy of the state government. On November 25, they will be handed over fixed deposit documents of Rs 2 lakh each and all of them will get assistance in vocational training so that they get employment opportunities," said Ghosh.
Among the surrendered ultras were Ranjan Munda, Sanjay, Chiru, Debdulal and China of the Jhargram Maoist squad, the police said.
