Hari Singh, hailing from Dausa district in Rajasthan, has been living in Sultanpuri in the capital for the past 10 years after he escaped from Rajasthan.
Police arrested Singh yesterday based on specific information that he would be coming to Ajmeri Gate near New Delhi railway station to meet his acquaintance.
"A trap was laid near the exit gate of New Delhi railway station at Ajmeri Gate side, Delhi. At about 1:45 PM, on the pointing out of the informer, one person was apprehended by the police team who revealed his identity as Hari Singh," a senior police official said.
During interrogation, the accused said he had committed several burglaries and thefts in Dausa and Jaipur and several warrants for his arrest had been issued.
In order to evade arrest, he came to Delhi around 10 years ago and started living in the area of Sultanpuri under the name of Amar Singh.
"He started selling illicit liquor in the area of Sultanpuri, Delhi. It was also found that Singh is involved in two cases of Excise Act. His wife Kamla is also involved in four cases of Excise Act," the official said.
