513 candidates file nominations on penultimate day in Haryana

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Haryana Janhit Congress chief Kuldeep Bishnoi, Haryana Lokhit Party chief Gopal Kanda and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala were among 513 candidates who filed their nomination papers today for the Assembly Elections to be held on October 15.
So far, 808 candidates have filed their nominations.
Hooda filed his papers from his traditional bastion Garhi Sampla Kiloi, Bishnoi from Adampur seat, Kanda from Sirsa, Abhay from Ellenabad and Jan Chetna Party head Venod Sharma from Ambala city seat.
Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Walgad said today a maximum of 174 Independent candidates have filed their nomination papers in the state.
Besides, 81 candidates of INLD, 74 candidates of Congress, 62 candidates of BJP, 34 candidates of BSP, 27 candidates of HJC, five candidates of CPI and two candidates of CPI-M have filed their nominations.
Walgad said the last date for filing nomination papers is September 27. Scrutiny of nomination papers would be carried out on September 29 and candidates would be able to withdraw their candidature by October 1.
