The action was taken on a complaint that the home was being run without proper amenities, Social Welfare officer Vijayalakshmi said.
She said officials found that the children were not being given proper food nor was there proper protection for them. The rooms too were unhygienic.
The officer said authorities of the home also did not have requisite permission to run it.
Vijayalakshmi said 14 children were handed over to their parents, while 39 were admitted to another children's home run by a voluntary organisation.
