As many as 542 couples tied the knot at a mass marriage ceremony in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in Vadodara district today.
The event had been organised by Mahendra Jashbhai Charity Trust at Savli town in the district.
Of the 542 couples, 531 were Hindu, 10 Muslim and one was Christian, the organisers said.
Rupani lauded local BJP MLA Ketan Inamdar for the initiative, organised through the trust.
Among the couples who got married, four were disabled.
Rupani announced an aid of Rs one lakh to these disabled couples.
