The Maharashtra Health Departmentsaid on Thursday that a total of 55,785 travelers have been screened for possible novel coronavirus infection at the Mumbai international airport so far.Passengers arriving from 12 Covid-19 affected countries/regions -- China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Nepal, Indonesia, Vietnam, Italy, Iran and Malaysia -- are being screened at the Mumbai airport.Those who are suspected to have contracted the deadly infection are sent to isolation facilities for treatment.However, no case of coronavirus infection has come to light in the state so far, the Health Department said in the statement.As many as 98 travelers who had arrived from Covid-19- affected areas were quarantined in hospitals across the state, but 95 of them tested negative for the virus as per the National Institute of Virology's (NIV) reports.At present, five persons are quarantined -- three at Naidu Hospital in Pune and two at Mumbai's Kasturba hospital. Reports of swab samples of three of these passengers were awaited from the NIV.All travelers from the Wuhan city of China -- the epicentre of the outbreak of epidemic -- are being isolated and tested, whether they show any symptoms are not, the Health Department said.Follow-up at home is conducted for the travelers from Covid-19-affected countries who do not show any symptoms during the screening at the airport. "To date, out of 312 travelers, 228 have completed their follow-up of 14 days," the department said.
