Amid questions being raised about the safety and security of women, 59 per cent of women here felt that work environment in the metropolis is safe for them, a recent survey report said.
A survey conducted in Mumbai, Latur and Vadodara by the IRIS Knowledge Foundation and commissioned by the United Nations Habitat stated that more women (59 per cent) than men reported that work places were safe.
Both men and women felt that a sense of security and an environment to work and live free from fear is an important contributor to a sense of prosperity, the report said.
"45 per cent of youth also felt that a level playing field is important to provide equal opportunity for all," the report released by NCP MP Supriya Sule and UN Habitat programme officer Eric Luguya said.
