As many as 118 cases of diarrhoea have been reported in the area, officials said today.
The deceased were identified as Pooja (32), Ramandeep Kaur (5), Satnam Singh (50), Dewan Chand (65), Jung Khan (50) and Jeet Singh (60), they said.
Health authorities dispatched rapid response teams to different areas to attend to patients and distribute medicines.
They said the supply of contaminated water in affected areas has also been disconnected.
The district administration said chlorine tables were being distributed on large scale among the residents.
He added that the department had collected water and stool samples of people from affected areas.
