Talking to PTI today, Bachubhai Kadva Banbhaliya, president of a Una boat association, said the six fishermen were rescued yesterday and were rushed to a hospital in Una.
"The fishermen had gone on a fishing expedition on May 1. Yesterday, at around 5 am, a big speeding trawler came from nowhere and hit the boat," he said.
"They are lucky to be alive, as their boat sank minutes after it was hit by the trawler," he added.
When their boat started sinking, the fishermen jumped into the water. After swimming for about an hour, they were rescued by fishermen in other boats, who were fishing nearby.
Banbhaliya said that according to the rules, fishermen using small boats can fish within three nautical miles in this area and big trawlers cannot enter the area.
"Despite patrols conducted by the Coast Guard, Navy, Marine Police and other agencies on the sea, big trawlers and barges enter the area that is reserved for fishermen," he said.
