6 improvised firearms found, 2 arrested

Six improvised firearms were recovered from Jhikra Bat Tala this afternoon and two persons were arrested in this connection, SDPO, Kalyani, Kaustavdipta Acharjee said.
The duo were charged with Arms Act 25 (1)(a).
The firearms were found from bags carried by the two, Acharjee said.
While one of the arrested was identified as Salam Ali Mondal of Bhabanipur under Haroa police station in North 24 Parganas, the other was Basudeb Santra of Gopalpur under the same police station.
The SDPO said Salam was suspected to be the middle man of clandestine firearm racket and Basudeb was the manufacturer.
Earlier on December 7, Nadia police had recovered seven improvised firearms from Mitrapur area of the district.
