Six persons were killed and 12 others injured after a truck rammed into a tea stall in West Midnapore district, police said today.
The incident happened yesterday near Sahachalk village adjacent to National Highway 6 under the jurisdiction of Kharagpur Local police station, the police said.
Some people had gathered at the tea stall to have some snacks and tea and all of a sudden the truck, after loosing control, rammed into it, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Kharagpur, Y Raghuvamshi, said.
Out of the 12 people injured, four were admitted to a hospital in Kharagpur, five were taken to a hospital in Midnapore and rest were taken to a hospital in Kolkata, the ASP said.
