6 killed, 2 injured in jeep-trailer collision

A jeep rammed head-on into a trailer truck on the Beawar-Pindwara highway in Rajasthan's Pali district killing six people and injuring two, police said today.
The accident took place last night when the contractual staff of a leading oil company was returning to Beawar in the jeep after repairing a pipeline near Sojat, a police official said.
Giving details, the official said the jeep driver, who took a wrong side after they stopped for dinner, rammed into the speeding trailer truck coming from the opposite direction.
Due to the massive impact, the jeep overturned and fell into a river, killing five persons on the spot whereas one died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
A case has been registered against the trailer driver who fled after the accident.
The deceased were identified as Lal Singh Rathore, Nikunj Prajapati, Surendra Kumar Singh, Sahil Panchal, Shanti Bhushan Pandey and jeep driver Avdhesh Kumar.
Two others are undergoing treatment in Pali, SHO Sojat City, Swai Singh Sodha said.
He said that bodies will be handed over to the family members after post-mortem.
