"We have recovered six bodies from the spot and these militants belong to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Maulana Fazlullah group and we have also recovered heavy cache of weapons from them," Rao Anwar, Senior Superintendent Police of Malir, told PTI.
Those killed include a commander and close aide of former Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan head, Hakimullah Mehsud.
The commander named Ahmed who was wounded in a drone attack was brought to Karachi for treatment and was hiding in Saadi town. Police surrounded the house in Saadi town on a intelligence tip off, Anwar said.
The outlawed TTP has conducted numerous attacks in the country, including a attack on Pakistan's largest international airport in Karachi last year that killed 39 people.
