A defence spokesperson said five NDFB(S) militants were apprehended in a joint operation by troops of Red Horns Division of the Army and Assam Police.
The operation was conducted on the basis of specific intelligence provided by Gajraj Corps of Military Intelligence Unit.
"The apprehended includes Daneshwar Basumatary alias B Dapung alias Ustad, who is a 37th batch trained cadre of NDFB (S)," the official said in a statement adding two pistols, three hand grenades and other articles were recovered during the operation.
"A lot of documents pertaining to instruction on tax collection and extortion, appointment list and details of weapons and ammunition with respect to NDFB(S) were recovered during the operation," he added.
Two linkmen, Laoga Basumatary and Girish Soren, were also apprehended at Darrangamela in Tamulpur in Baksa district.
Two grenades, eight detonators with fuses were recovered from them, the spokesperson said.
