6 smugglers arrested; drugs, fake currency seized

With the arrest of six alleged smugglers, police today claimed to have busted an interstate gang involved in smuggling of narcotics and fake currency in the frontier Poonch district.
"Six smugglers have been arrested and fake currency with a face value of Rs 1.61 lakh has been recovered from their possession. We have also received around one kilogram of heroine from them," Inspector General of Police Jammu Rajesh Kumar told PTI.
He said the fake currency and the narcotics have come from across the Line of Control.
"Yes the drugs and the fake currency had come from across the LoC and now its to be seen how it reached to our side," he said.
He said that acting on a specific information, police conducted a raid in Mendhar area of the district last evening and nabbed two persons and seized fake currency and heroin worth Rs one crore in the international market from them.
After interrogating the duo, four more persons were arrested from different locations in the district, he said.
