Sixty per cent of the work on the 135-km Eastern Peripheral Expressway, being constructed from Kundli to Palwal, has already been completed, Union minister Nitin Gadkari today said.

After making an aerial survey of the progress on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway near village Jahllaka in Haryana, the Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways said completion of this project would reduce vehicle pressure by up to 50 per cent in Delhi, besides reducing pollution.
This is the first access-controlled expressway being constructed at a cost of Rs 4,418 crore, he said.
After its completion, vehicles would not have to enter Delhi for mutual transit to the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
The minister lauded the efforts of the Haryana government in completing the work in its territory.
