The evening of November 13 was special for students of the famed Sir J J School of Arts here as they witnessed history being created.
On this day in 1954, Chhaya Dixit, then a 20-year-old, had posed before famed sculptor Vinayak Karmarkar at the same place. The bust he made is displayed in the art school.
Six decades later, the artist changed but the model was the same as sculptor Sharad Kapuskar made a bust of Chhaya Dixit Arya, now 80 years old.
"You get linked with that period by doing an encore. I have not seen Karmarkar in action but this was as close one got to him," Kapuskar said.
"It feels great to be in the J J School again after all these years," the "model" said reliving the past when she visited the premises to pose for the first time.
For the students, it was a memorable event, to say the least.
