Replying to a question from Sanjay Raimulkar (Shiv Sena) and others on police raid on Caramel Lounge of a beer bar in Sadar area of city on August 19 this year, Patil said there was shortage of police personnel and the state government was making efforts to fill up the vacancies.
He said the government had recruited about 55,000 policemen in the past and five new police stations have been proposed for Nagpur.
The government has sought a plot of land from the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) and civic body for setting up five new police stations but if the allotment is delayed, they would not hesitate in taking premises on rental basis.
Later, Girish Bapat (BJP) and others brought to the attention of House the increasing incidents of chain-snatching and crime against women in Nagpur city.
Opposition members demanded that the government should strictly implement setting up CCTVs in lodges, to capture images of wanted criminals frequenting them.
Patil said it would be improper to fix CCTVs inside the lodges but he would certainly ask the lodge owners to install cameras in the reception area or outside.

Speaker Dilip Walse Patil also pulled up the Minister of State for Home for taking too much time.
The Minister then announced that the license of the bar would be suspended within 24 hours, which was welcomed by Opposition benches by thumping of desks.
