63.25 per cent voting in Chandrapur Lok Sabha seat

Chandrapur Lok Sabha constituency has clocked 63.25 per cent voting as per the final figures released by the election officials today.
Chandrapur was one of the ten constituencies in Vidarbha region of East Maharashtra where polling was held yesterday.
"The highest poling of 68.87 per cent was recorded in Rajura Assembly segment while Chandrapur city recorded the minimum of 54.79 per cent. The percentage of polling in other Assembly segments of the constituency are Ballarpur (61.31 pc), Warora (62.76 pc), Wani (67.19 pc) and Arni (66.82 pc)," a communication released by district authorities said today.
Out of total 17,52,615 voters, 63.25 per cent i.E 11,08,573 voters exercised their franchise yesterday, the release said.
While 6,02,181 voters were male, 5,06,392 were female.
"There is a marginal increase of five per cent in the voter turnout as compared to the Lok Sabha elections of 2009," the release added.
Incumbent BJP MP Hansraj Ahir is seeking a fresh term from the seat. Also in the poll arena are Wamanrao Chatap of AAP and Sanjay Deotale of Congress.
