Around 63 children and 14 women were rescued by police in a major cross-provincial campaign against human trafficking in China.
Five child trafficking gangs were busted and 368 suspects arrested yesterday in the actions coordinated by the ministry, which involved more than 6,000 police staff from 20 provincial-level regions, the Ministry of Public Security said.
The police is hunting for more suspects and investigation is underway, said an official from the ministry.
An unidentified official from the ministry said the child trafficking is still rampant in China although the crime has been effectively contained in general, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The police will strengthen regional cooperation to further crack down on the crime, he added.
