65-year-old eunuch found dead at her residence in UP

A 65-year-old eunuch was shot dead at her residence in Gau Shala Phatak area under main Kotwali police station here, police said today.
Daya Rani Kinner, who had contested Lok Sabha, Assembly and civic elections, was found dead with a gunshot wound on her head in her room in the morning, Circle Officer City 1st, Anil Kumar Yadav said.
Daya's niece Geeta told police that they went to sleep last night in their respective rooms around 11 PM after dinner, he said.
When Daya did not wake up till 7.30 in the morning, they entered the room and found her dead, he said.
The window of her room was found open and there is a possibility that assailant might have fired from outside, he said.
The body has been sent for postmortem, he said, adding the forensic team collected samples of her finger prints.

Money lending angle could not be ruled out behind her alleged murder, he said.
Footages of CCTV cameras, which were installed in the house, have been taken for scrutiny, he said.
As scores of eunuch fraternity members gathered outside the house to mourn her demise, police force has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident, he said.
An FIR has been registered in the matter, the CO said, adding the matter is being investigated.
