6500 paramilitary personnel deployed for bypoll

About 6500 paramilitary personnel are keeping strict vigil in Srirangam, which goes to byelection on February 13,officials said.
Meanwhile, EVMs are being kept ready for the bypoll, where 29 candidates, including AIADMK's S Valarmathi, DMK's N Anand, BJP's M Subramaniam and CPI-M's K Annadurai, are in the fray.
The byelection was necessitated to fill the vacancy caused by the disqualification of AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa following her conviction in a diproportionate assets case.
