65th DoverLane Music Conference to start from January 22

The 65th edition of annual Dover Lane Music Conference is set to start from January 22 with Pandit Jasraj re-introducing morning inauguration after a long span of 15 years.
The four-day music conference till January 25 will host 20 leading artists in vocal, sitar, sarod, santoor, dhrupad, tabla, flute and carnatic vocal at Nazrul Mancha in south Kolkata.
Among the major artistes that are lined up are: Pandit Jasraj, Ayaan Ali Bangash, Shivkumar Sharma, Hariprasad Chaurasia and Ajoy Chakraborty.
Five artistes, Heasan Haider Khan (Shenai), Anjana Nath (Vocal), Apoorva Ghokhale, Sudha Raghunathan, will debut at the four-day musical event.
"Till 2001, inauguration use to held in morning but due to various reasons it was stopped. We are trying to reintroduce it again," Dover Lane Music Conference general secretary Bappa Sen said.
Entry is free for the inaugural programme, the organisors informed.
Sanjay Budhia of Patton said Kolkata is the cultural capital and Dover Lane Music Conference is one the most sought after event of the city.
