66 Special Auxiliary policemen dismissed from service in Bihar

The Bihar government today dismissed 66 Special Auxiliary Policemen (SAP) from service on charges of indiscipline and breaching the rules of employment.
Additional Director General (Police Headquarters) Sunil Kumar said that of the dismissed policemen, 17 are from Muzaffarpur district, 14 from Bhagalpur, 11 from Sitamarhi, seven each from Saran and Siwan, six from Sheohar and four from Begusarai.
Over 6,000 SAP personnel, most of whom are retired from the armed forces, are on strike since June 9 demanding salary hike and other benefits.
The dismissal the officers was a fallout of a scuffle between some SAP personnel and policemen in Patna a few days ago, he said.

The SAP personnel had taken out a protest march through the busy areas of the state capital and had allegedly pushed and shoved police officials, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), when they tried to stop it. Those engaged in the scuffle were identified later.
The SAP personnel get Rs 15,000 per month as salary. Their last pay hike was made in September 2013.
