This was the first election after the formation of Khammam Municipal Corporation.
"The polling passed off peacefully without any untoward incident. The turnout was 67.68 per cent," District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar told PTI.
A total of 291 candidates from TRS, TDP, Congress-CPI combine, CPI (M), YSR Congress, BJP and independents were in the fray for 50 divisions of the civic body.
The city has 2,65,710 registered voters.
For the first time in the state, Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines were used at 35 polling stations on an experimental basis.

Meanwhile, around 58.60 per cent voter turn out was recorded for the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) held today, civic officials said.
Voting was largely peaceful. The final voting percentage is likely to go up, they said.
