Punjab government will issue orders for regularisation of service to 7,654 teachers on May 19, state Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka said today.
The issuance of orders was delayed because the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections was in force in the state, Maluka said.
The EC asked the state government to issue the regularisation orders after the poll results are announced on May 16, he said.
"The education department has received reply from ECI that has desired issuance of (regularisation) letters after date of counting," he said.
The Education Minister said he would personally hand over regularisation letters to 7,654 teachers on May 19.
The state government had sought permission of the EC for issuing the orders to teachers "who have completed their mandatory 3 year period in the service", the minister told a delegation of Sanjha Adhyapak Front which met him here, seeking the issuance of the orders.
Maluka assured them that the orders would be issued after the election results are announced, on May 19.
