Twenty eight people, belonging to two villages of Gogolmari and Santra, were travelling in a mechanised boat to Kandapara when a thunderstorm hit it near Milanbazaar area this afternoon, a senior police official said.
Seven persons were killed on the spot, while 21 others received burn injuries, he said.
The injured were rushed to the Barpeta Medical College Hospital where the condition of three was stated to be critical and they had been referred to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.
