7-year old magna elephant falls to death

A seven year magna elephant, a male without tusk, today died after it fell down from a height of 30 feet near Gudalur in the district.
Some workers of a private tea estate, about 80 km from here, noticed the elephant and informed forest department personnel, who along with a veterinarian examined and found it dead.
During post-mortem, all the bones of the elephant were found fractured due to the impact of the fall, veterinarian Vijayaraghavan said.
Later, the elephant was buried.
