Sachin was sleeping on a carpet near the entrance of the community hall around two this morning after the ceremony got over when accused Rajkumar, who was apparently drunk, tried to enter with his car and ran him over, Kavinagar station officer Sudhir Kumar Tyagi said.
He then took his car to a park and did not inform anybody about the accident.
Sachin's body was noticed by passersby, who informed the victim's parents and told them about Rajkumar, he said.
The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered against him, they added.
