"The victim was identified as Satya Gupta," the senior police official said, adding it has registered a case of negligence, as there was no warning sign board put up stating that the lift was out of order.
According to the police official, the incident took place around 10:30 AM, when the woman pressed the lift button to reach her residence on the second floor.
"The woman was about to board the lift, when it suddenly started to move up as someone had pressed the button of another floor. The woman's body was partly inside and partly outside the lift.
It further stated that the residents have alleged that on earlier occasions also people got stuck in the lift, but no action had been taken.

The police team and a team constituting of the government officials have rushed to the spot and examined the lift, the police said.
It further said that a technical team has also been called to ascertain as to what exactly went wrong.
