70-yr-old woman found dead with slit threat

A 70-year-old woman was today found dead at her residence in suburban Jogeshwari here, with her throat slit, police said.
The incident came to light this afternoon and the deceased was identified as Mumtaz Badshah, police said.
"The victim used to live with her husband Rashid (75) in Rizwan Society on Aksa Masjid Road in Jogeshwari (West). Rashid, a real estate agent, has his office in Saki Naka and leaves for work around 9 am everyday," a police officer said.
Rashid had called the deceased around 10.30 am today and had a conversation with her. He had called again her around 12.30 pm, but she did not pick up the call, police said.
"Subsequently, Rashid contacted his relatives, who stay nearby and requested them to visit their place to see if everything was okay at home," a police officer said.
Some of the relatives went to their house and started ringing the doorbell. But since Mumtaz did not open the door for a long time, they peeped inside the room and saw the victim lying in a pool of blood, police said.

The door was then broken open and police were informed about it, police said.
"She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival," police said.
Police have denied the possibility of robbery in the case and are going through the CCTV footage of the building.
According to police, the couple has two sons. While one of thems tays in Lokhandwala in Andheri and visited his parents' house every afternoon to see them, while the other one stays in the US.
