7000 rowdies caught from outside schools and colleges in Patna

As part of a special drive, 7,000 rowdy elements have been caught from outside schools and colleges in the state capital in the past six months, the state government informed the Legislative Council today.
Those caught by the police were taken to respective police stations and were let off only after filling of bonds in presence of their parents, minister in-charge for Home department Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said in a reply to a short notice question of BJP Nawal Kishore Yadav in the Council.
The minister said to curtail activities of anti-social elements near educational institutions, police stations have been posting patrols at strategic points.

Chaudhary said the state government ordered the police to conduct checks and keep a close watch over rowdies around the schools and colleges across the state.
Replying to an another question of BJP member Kiran Ghai Sinha, the minister said there was a provision for giving a part of the earning of inmates to the families killed by them.
He said crime victim welfare committees have been set up in 37 out of 38 districts of Bihar. In six districts, accounts of family members of murder victims have been opened with the State Bank of India branches, in which a part of inmates' earnings in jail was transferred.

Chaudhary said till March this year a total of Rs 4.65 crore has been deposited with the crime victim welfare board.
Wages of 154 prisoners in 67 cases have been provided to families of the victims in the state during the period, he added.
